Should you do a first look?

What is a first look and why should we do one? To put it simply, a first look is a fancy term for “seeing each other before the ceremony.”

Deciding to have this private moment together on your wedding day has some advantages. Knowing your options, and how it will impact your timeline, can have a dramatic effect on your wedding day.

Typically, the first look takes place after you get ready. We’ll help choose a spot that will enhance the experience for you. First looks translate beautifully into our wedding films. The emotion is so overwhelmingly beautiful, anyone watching your wedding video will be sure to shed a tear or two.

Doing a first look privately allows you to share an intimate moment together without the throngs of people staring. Many couples say that they felt immediate relief upon being together.

On top of the wedding day jitters disappearing, you will be able to spend more of your wedding day together. Much of the photography and videography of the couple, family, and wedding party can take place before the ceremony, which will allow you to spend more time with your guests having fun.

You might also consider doing a first look if your ceremony is close to, or during, sunset. This is because the best light of the day for photography and videography happens the hour before the sun goes down.

Certainly, another option is to wait until the ceremony to see each other for the first time, and there’s nothing wrong this tradition! Deciding to do a first look is a personal choice. No matter what your decision, we will work with you to create a timeline unique to you and your wedding!
