Now that the 2018 wedding season is well underway, we are starting to see several awesome trends pop up all over the map. As a wedding videographer, I love seeing new and unique elements in the weddings I shoot. It allows for a super creative and fun wedding video that everyone will enjoy watching. It seems like one of the themes of 2018 is big and bold, which is definitely something that shows when looking at these trends!

Because they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, balloons can be oh so bold. They are a fun and festive alternative to the traditional wedding flower arrangement, and definitely scream “party!” Balloons are incredibly versatile, because they can be arranged in bouquets, strung like garlands, or even arranged in arches! They can also be very budget-friendly!

Nontraditional Venues

Going along with the bold wedding themes of 2018, this trend is an unexpected twist: hosting your wedding at a nontraditional venue. Places like boxing gyms, libraries, museums and large homes with sprawling backyards. Choosing a nontraditional venue can allow the bride and groom to be authentic to themselves for their wedding day. Did the couple meet in college? Host your wedding on the grounds of your alma mater! Is your favorite activity as a couple hiking or camping? Book a spot at your favorite campground and host your wedding there. The possibilities are endless!

Neon Signs

What better way to make a statement than a good ole’ fashion neon sign? Am I right or am I right? These statement pieces are highly customizable, especially thanks to sites like Etsy where there are hundreds of creative vendors offering their unique talents. The possibilities are endless; Have one made with your last name, a favorite movie quote, or an inside joke to a lot of fun to your wedding decor.

Bonus: Not only are these signs gorgeous, but you can also use them as decor in your home after your wedding.
